Unfortunately, the weather forecast for this Sunday is much worse than last week. The most recent forecast calls for snow starting Saturday afternoon turning to ICE on Sunday Morning, with accumulations of 5-7 inches of snow and ice for our section of CT, with dangerous driving conditions and power outages predicted.
This will mean we should cancel Liturgy again this Sunday. But I do not wish to go two weeks without Liturgy. 
Therefore, we will have Divine Liturgy TOMORROW morning, Saturday at 9:30 am. I am cancelling vespers for Saturday evening and Liturgy for Sunday Morning.
I realize that it may be difficult for some to come tomorrow, and plans may need to change, but I hope everyone makes the effort. It is hard to go without Liturgy for so long a period. 
I will again prepare a readers service for Sunday with a sermon for everyone to pray and read at home on Sunday morning

Fr. Steven Hosking will lead us in learning about this remarkable Native Alaskan women, who is scheduled to be cannonized a saint in June by the Orthodox Church in America. She will be the first women to be canonized as a Saint of North America. Please come and join us. Refreshments will be served at the break and Vespers will be served at the end of the Retreat

His Grace, Bishop will be making his very first Archpastoral to  All Saints of America Orthodox Christian Church in Salisbury, CT for for our Patonal Feast. His Grace will be with us for Great Vespers on Saturday, July 6 and Divine Liturgy, Sunday, July 7.  We plan to spend some time together with our new Bishop following Liturgy. In the Afternoon we will host the clergy and faithful from the Diocese of New England as they come to pray before the relics of the Saints of North America. His Grace will preside at the Akathist to All Saints of America at 4:00pm.

On Sunday June 9 we will host our motorcyle enthusiasts following Liturgy for the "Blessing of the Bikes" . Any biker who would like to have their motorcyle blessed are welcome to come (appx 11:45am) and we will say a prayer for all the bikers, riders and Blessed thier bikes with Holy Water. All are invited to stay for a picnic after the Blessing.

This Evenings service of the Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts is CANCELLED, due to unpredictable weather.
 

Our annual Blessing of the Lake will be held this year on  Sunday, January 8th at the end of Divine Liturgy.

As is our Tradition, on the eve of our annual parish meeting, we remember all of our founders, beautifiers, and benefactors who worked so hard for the building up of our parish All Saints of America. This year we will remember them again in prayer on Saturday January 28 at 5:00 pm

and on Sunday, December 25th at 9:30 AM to celebrate the Nativity of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ.

All Saints of America will not have Liturgy on Sunday Oct 30. We will be traveling to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Pittsfield MA for the ordination of Deacon Justin Griffing to the Holy Priesthood, by Metropolitan Tikhon.

While Fr. John continues to recover from COVID, Tonight's vespers are cancelled. Fr. Deacon Justin Griffing will be joining us tomorrow morning to serve the Obenidisa Service in place of Liturgy

As you must be aware, COVID cases are once again spiking all over the country, and our community of Salisbury is no exception, so we need to be extra vigilant in our efforts to stay safe and well during this Holy Week and Pascha season,  remembering and giving witness to Our Lord’s victory over sin and death. This being said, we must continue to ensure that the appropriate health safety protocols that are in place, such as we have become accustomed to—the use of protective face masks worn properly and when possible please maintain social distancing. You should not come if you are not feeling well or may have been in situations of possible exposure. If you wish to join us by zoom please use the contact section of this page and we will forward the link to you. So let us all, out of love for each other, do our parts in keeping each other well as we lift up our hearts, with one mind, to Christ our God and celebrate our Lord's passion and Holy Resurrection.

This year we will have the blessing of the lake on Sunday, January 9, 2022, the Sunday following the Feast of Theophany. Please remember to dress warmly on Sunday. We will zoom the Liturgy but because of no internet service at the Lake, we will unfortunately not be able to zoom the blessing.

We will celebrate the great feast of Theophany of our Lord with  a Vesperal Divine Liturgy on Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at 6:00pm, followed with the great Blessing of Water.

This year the feast of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos falls on a Sunday (Aug, 15). We are also planning on to having our annual  Dormition Picnic on Sunday, following Divine Liturgy.  Please make sure you are able to join us as we celebrate this great feast of our church and celebrate all that God has given us – especially each other.

With the easing of restrictions by our Metropolitan, the CDC and state and local authorities, we have revised the protocols for attending services at All Saints of America Orthodox Church. Here are the revised protocols:

June 2021
 
1. These new guidelines have been approved by the Parish Council and Fr. John Kreta at our June 1 Council Meeting and reflect the general directives from His Beatitude.
2. These new guidelines meet with newest local and state guidelines regarding COVID safety in indoor and outdoor activities.
3. These new guidelines reflect the agreement of Parish Council members and are unique to All Saints of America Orthodox Church (not based on other churches or Dioceses). We strongly state that these guidelines reflect an Orthodox Christian love for the welfare of all members of our church family. There should in no way be judgements or criticism made by church family members regarding other member’s opinions and/or decisions regarding how they chose to respond to the COVID pandemic, (i.e vaccines, masks, etc)
4. Vaccines: We are in agreement with Met. Tikhon that the decision to get a vaccine or not is the sole choice of each individual; Please treat each other with charity and love, no matter other people’s decision to get vaccinated or not.
5.  Masks:  Even though CDC guidelines, State guidelines, and His Beatitude’s directives allow for the removal of masks for the vaccinated only, we will still be requiring the wearing of masks at All Saints of America. This is so that we may be one with each other in solidarity for those who chose not to vaccinate and those who are at risk due to autoimmune deficiencies.
6. Temperatures:  we will no longer take temperatures at the door to the church or other buildings used by the church.  We will still ask that those who are not feeling well, or may be symptomatic, to please stay home, get well, and attend services via zoom.
7.  Pre-Registration: we no longer require pre-registration to attend a service.
8.  List of Participants: for the foreseeable future (until further notice) we will still keep a sign-in list of attendees for church events/services. This is for health reasons in case someone going forward tests positive for COVID-19 so that we can maintain any safety protocols should there be a positive test. In the event of an outbreak or positive COVID-19 test the Parish Council will confer with our Chancellor/Priest about how to respond.
9. Social Distancing: for now, we will not be enforcing the 6-foot distancing requirement inside the church, However, we strongly suggest that people maintain social distancing. We will keep the markers in the church for a reference for everyone.  
10.  Communion:  we will continue the current practice of individual spoons and napkins until further notice. As the Metropolitan has said, the goal of the Holy Synod is eventually to resume the single spoon practice, and we should start preparing ourselves for this.
11. Icon and Cross Veneration/candles:  This will be an individual choice. Those who would like to may go to the Icons, our relics and venerate them should feel free to do so. We will have the cross available for veneration at the conclusion of services and those who wish to venerate may do so, and those who prefer not to should come and give a slight bow out of love and respect. People should now feel free to move and pray around the church, light their own candles and pray for loved ones. Again ,we do ask everyone to be mindful of others and the distance between you.
12. Ventilation: We will continue to use the HAVC system and keep the windows and doors open to ensure healthy ventilation and filtration. 
13.  Coffee Hours:  We will now begin to have outdoor coffee hours after Liturgy. Coffee will be made, and individual creamers, disposable cups will be available for everyone. We hope to also provide some individual snacks/bagels etc that everyone can serve themselves (not served) and of course everyone is invited to bring their own food or beverages if they so choose.
14. In person meetings: for now, using ZOOM to continue our meetings is easy to do. There may be times, however, when meeting in person would allow for a more in-depth discussion.
15. These new directives will go into effect on Sunday June 20. The Parish Council will be reviewing these guidelines at its regular council meetings and updating them as our situation changes and/or as appropriate.

Our Iconographer, Fr. Andrew Tregobov has recently finished our Icons for the back wall. On Wednesday morning he came and with the help of some parishioners and friends the Icons were installed. What we see depicted is the image of Christ in Glory of the heavenly Hosts within the open doors of His Ethernal Kingdom calling His Mother, His Forerunner, our first parents Adam and Eve together with all of us as we "depart in peace"  takiing with us the knowledge fot he past; the history of salvation: the experience fo the present: our communion with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit: and the joyful expectation of the future: the second coming of Christ.

Great Lent is upon us! This Sunday, March 14 Divine Liturgy, followed by Forgiveness Vespers for the beginning of Lent.
During the first week of Great Lent, the Canon of St. Andrew of Crete will be prayed Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 
Pre-Sanctified Liturgies every Wednesday evening at 6:00 during Great Lent start on March 17th.
All COVID-19 Protocols must continue to be followed.
 

Once again, the Good Lord has blessed us with glorious day to proceed to the lake for the Great Blessing of Water. "O Lord how Glorious are your works, and no hymns are sufficient to hymn Thy Wonders"  (Please see the gallery for more pictures)

Due to protocols we have established for the safety and health of all of us during this pandemic and recent surge in COVID-19 cases in our area, we will have a modified cycle of services for the celebration of the Nativity of our Lord, God and Savior. We will have a modified compline and vigil combined with the Divine Liturgy on Christmas eve only, starting at 5 PM. Divine Liturgy on Christmas day will be at St. Nicholas in Pittsfield, MA.

The CT Deanery Mission Vespers scheduled for Sunday Afternoons during Great Lent have been cancelled. This was a pastoral decision made for the well being of all of our faithful.

Tonight's Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos will be led by the faithful. Fr. John will be serving the funeral service of Fr. Josef Patanrin in Pittsfield tonight and for Liturgy in the Morning.

During this Advent Season, All Saints of America will have a candlelight vespers every Saturday evening from November 16 until December 21. ALL ARE WELCOME to come, to pray, light a candle or just be still and meditate on the great gift of our Lord's Incarnation

This Saturday Dec 28 is the last Saturday All Saints of America will be open for visitors to come inside to pray and/or for a tour of the Church. The tours are from 3:30to 4:45. After this Saturday tours will still be given, but by appointment. Please call (860) 824-1340 to schedule a tour.

Weather reports for tonight and this weekend call for bitter and dangerously cold conditions.  Rather than putting parishioners at risk, Father John has revised and/or cancelled the following services:

Saturday Morning Liturgy, January 6: Cancelled.  The Great Feast of Theophany will be celebrated on Sunday, with the great Blessing of Water at the end of Liturgy.

Sunday Morning, January 7th: Liturgy will be celebrated!   We will celebrate the Feast on Sunday with the Great Blessing of Water.
Blessing of the Lake: Prayers will be recited during Liturgy with a very brief visit to the lake for one prayer and for the emersion of the cross with the singing of the Troparian.

Due to the significant amount of snow we recieved, I am afraid that the parking and conditions of the back roads leading to the Church will make it difficult and/or dangerous to hold services this evening.
We will Postpone the Divine Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts to Friday evening at 6:30 pm instead of Akathist (scheduled for 7:00).

On Saturday May14th, and Sunday May 15th , we will be visited by His Eminence, Archishop Nikon, Bishop of Boston, New England and the Albanian Archdiocese. This is also a great event the life of our Mission, and an opportunity to gather around the bishop in prayer and fellowship.  It is only with the Blessings and permission of our Bishop that we are able to have a parish and to serve the Divine Services. It is extremely important that ALL of us plan to be with, pray with and spend the day with our Spiritual Father of our Diocese during his visit to us. It is an opportunity for you to meet him and get to know him and ask questions of him and for him to do the same with us. Following the Divine Liturgy we will have a picnic. So please mark your calendars now. This is sure to be a joyous and exciting event.  Please make sure that nothing keeps you away from this blessed day!  . 

On Saturday, February 27th at 5 PM, we will celebrate Akathist in front of the relics of St Raphael instead of vespers.  Please join us.

As part of our continuing celebration of our 25th Anniversary, we are hosting an Iconography lecture/retreat by the Very Reverend Andrew Tregubov, at All Saints of America on Saturday, May 16th from 1-4 PM followed by Great Vespers.  Fr Tregubov has written/painted 16 icons for our church in the traditional egg tempera technique.  He hopes to be bringing that day, our newest icon "Christ Pantocrator", an 8 foot icon that will be installed onto the ceiling of the church.  Reservations are not necessary, but appreciated.  Please leave a message at 860-824-1340 if you plan to attend.

This Sunday, February 1st, we will celebrate the Feast of the Meeting of Our Lord and have the Blessing of Candles and all its Liturgical prayers.  We will also bless our new icon of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr, donated by the Radley family.

St Herman of Alaska is the FIRST saint of America.  We will learn about his life tonight in prayer as we celebrate the Akathist Hymn to Saint Herman.

REMINDER:  Daylight Savings Time ends Saturday night.  We will move our clocks back an hour.

Once each month, we will study the lives of our patron saints who lived in this land before us.  The presentation on Saint Basil, scheduled for Sunday, March 15th has been postponed until after Pascha; date to be determined.

This Sunday, September 7th, during Divine Liturgy, Father John will bless children of all ages who are returning to school.  Following the service, the celebration will continue with a pizza party for the children.

Archbishop NIKON will vist our parish during Great Vespers on Saturday October 4th at 5 PM and, on Sunday, October 5th we will greet the Bishop at 10 AM.  Following entrance prayers, we will immediately start Divine Liturgy.  We will have a potluck luncheon following liturgy so everyone will have an opportunity to meet and talk with his Eminence.  Please remember that when greeting the Bishop, one does not put out their hand for a handshake, but rather cups right hand over left and approaches the Bishop with the words "Master Bless".  Conversation then follows.  We hope to see you then!

It is very important that we all attend the Akathist services dedicated to our Patron Saints.  The next one will be on August 9th: Akathist to Saint Herman of Alaska.  On this day, many of the faithful throughout the country make the annual pilgrimage to Kodiak, Alaska, where St. Herman's body lies in repose in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, and then pile into boats to go to Spruce Island where Fr Herman lived.  We have his relic at our church and it is a great blessing, not to be squandered or taken for grante.  So, come to the service, make your own personal pilgrimage to our church that day, pray, and be anointed!

On Saturday, August 16th from 9 AM to 2 PM, we will again host our annual back-to-school clothing drive.
Clothing to be donated can be dropped off on Wed, Aug. 13th and Thursday, Aug. 14th at the church.

The secondary roads many of us take and Twin Lakes Rd to the church are very messy and may be worse tomorrow after they freeze this evening. The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America has given it's blessing for a special All-American Council to be held this November 13, 2012. The Sole purpose for this meeting is the election of a New Metropolitan to be the Primate of the Church. The Statutes of the OCA require that the lay delegates who represent their respective parishes be elected at a parish meeting. Since there was no AAC scheduled when we had our parish meeting in January, we did not elect a delegate. Therefore we will hold a special parish meeting for the sole purpose of electing a lay delegate to represent All Saints of America. This special meeting will take place following Divine Liturgy on September 23, 2012

As has become our little tradition at All Saints of America, on the eve of the Nativity, we will gather together for the Holy Supper Meal. We will start the dinner promptly at 4:00 p.m. before Compline, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. This is a traditional meal that the faithful come together to partake of on Christmas Eve to remind us of the birth of Christ. We start with bitter foods and end with sweet foods. All are Lenten foods since the Nativity Fast does not end until the Liturgy of Christmas Day. The bitter foods, like garlic remind us that until the coming of Christ the Savior, man’s life was one of despair and bitterness. The sweet foods like honey remind us of the pleasant moments of life. Grain dishes remind us of the simple and ordinary moments as well as the bread from heaven…the Lord Jesus Christ. The 12 courses represent the Twelve Tribes of Israel and the Twelve Disciples who followed Jesus. Please come and be part of this beautiful and meaningful tradition.

Please remember that from June 1- August 31, Sunday Liturgy starts at 9:30 am instead of the normal 10:00 am, with no Church School in the summer.

Following our fellowship with Bishop Nikon during his Archpastoral
visit to us on Sunday June 14th, we have invited the priests and
parishioners of the Churches that have been holding and venerating the Icons
and Relics of our patron saints. With His Grace present, the priests will
process into our church with the Icons and they will be placed in our newly
created Shrine on the right side of the Iconostasis and we will sing the
Akathist Hymn to All the Saints of North America. All are invited to come!

Every
June we receive an appeal of our national church to help support our three
seminaries. This year for our May and June collection we will collect for the
Protopresbyter Joseph P. Kreta scholarship for students at St. Herman’s
Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska. Please give to this investment of

We join with the voices of all the faithful of the Orthodox Church in America is proclaiming AXIOS (he is worthy) to our newly elected Primate of the Orthodox Church in America His Beatitude Metropolitan JONAHOn Wednesday, November 12, 2008, His Grace, Bishop Jonah of Fort Worth was elected Archbishop of Washington and New York and Metropolitan of All America and Canada at the 15th All-American Council of the Orthodox Church in America.His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah was born James Paffhausen in Chicago, IL, and was baptized into the Episcopal Church. While still a child, his family later settled in La Jolla, CA, near San Diego. He was received into the Orthodox Church in 1978 at Our Lady of Kazan Moscow Patriarchal Church, San Diego, while a student at the University of California, San Diego. Later, he transferred to UC Santa Cruz, where he was instrumental in establishing an Orthodox Christian Fellowship.After completing studies at UCSC, James attended St. Vladimir's Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1985 and a Master of Theology in Dogmatics in 1988.He went on to pursue studies towards a Ph.D. at Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, but interrupted those studies to spend a year in Russia.In Moscow, working for Russkiy Palomnik at the Publishing Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, he was introduced to life in the Russian church, in particular monastic life. Later that year, he joined Valaam Monastery, having found a spiritual father in the monastery's Abbot, Archimandrite Pankratiy. It was Archimandrite Pankratiy's spiritual father, the Elder Kyrill at Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, who blessed James to become a priestmonk. He was ordained to the diaconate and priesthood in 1994 and in 1995 was tonsured to monastic rank at St. Tikhon's Monastery, South Canaan, PA, having received the name Jonah.Returning to California, Fr. Jonah served a number of missions and was later given the obedience to establish a monastery under the patronage of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco. The monastery, initially located in Point Reyes Station, CA, recently moved to Manton in Northern California, near Redding. During his time building up the monastic community, Fr. Jonah also worked to establish missions in Merced, Sonora, Chico, Eureka, Redding, Susanville, and other communities in California, as well as in Kona, HI.In the spring of 2008, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church in America elevated Fr. Jonah to the rank of Archimandrite and he was given the obedience to leave the monastery and take on the responsibilities of auxiliary bishop and chancellor for the Diocese of the South.Bishop Jonah's episcopal election took place on September 4, 2008, at an extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops. Our Parish will once again host the Konevet Quartet on Tuesday October 14th. This acclaimed Quartet from St. Petersburg, Russia, preforms a moving and delightful performance of Russian sacred and folk music. In the great Russian traditions, the Quartet sings as a chamber choir with a common harmonic sound. Their repertoire includes both Russian sacred music, ancient and modern; and Russian folk songs, many of which were suppressed during communist times. We have scheduled a parish family outing to go see the ROCK CATS semi-pro baseball team on Thursday evening July 23th. This year’s fall festival is scheduled for Oct 6-7. In addition to our needed bake goods, jams and cakes there is a new element this year. Family and Friends Fellowship SundaysAn hour of discussion, contemplation, learning, teaching, asking, talking, enlightenment. Our Christian heritage is not only a fertile source for spiritual healing, it is a font of Truth soothing the intellect. It is not only a comfort, but also a challenge and a Mystery. Come to learn more about the Christian heritage, its meaning, its context, how it fits into liturgical service and daily life. We’ll always have two levels of discussions going: one for the adults and one for the children.All Saints of America Family and Friends Fellowship Sundays will be held on the first Sunday of the month (usually) immediately following our liturgical service, and includes a light brunch followed by a discussion of one of the saints, feast days, or events of importance to the Church. Come for worship, enjoy the food, profit from and contribute to the discussion: come for one or for all. Brunch starts at 11:30; discussions start at 12:15; we will end by 1:15, but we encourage continued questions in informal groups afterward. Bishop Nikon of Boston and the Albanian Archdiocese was elected to fill the New England Dicoese's vacant episcopal see by the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America during their fall session at the OCA chancery on December 19, 2005. Bishop Nikon will bear the title of Bishop of Boston and New England and the Albanian Archdiocese. The installment weekend will open on Friday, December 16 with the celebration of Vespers at the cathedral at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, December 17, the greeting of the hierarchs will commence at 9:00 a.m., after which the Hours and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated. A reception will follow in the cathedral's D'Arbeloff Hall At 1:30 p.m. a banquet honoring Bishop Nikon will be held at the Elements Cafe. The Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA) and the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches have invited us to the annual Orthodox Prayer Service for the United Nations Community. For the first time in history, the wonderworking Sitka Icon of the Mother of God will be taken on pilgrimage to over 60 Orthodox Christian parishes across the US. Special services will be celebrated in every parish along the pilgrimage's "coast-to-coast" route. The icon, a 19th-century variation of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, is adorned with a magnificent gold and silver risa, or metal covering. The icon was commissioned for Sitka's Archangel Michael Cathedral by Saint Innocent Veniaminov in the early 1800s and has been enshrined in the cathedral since its arrival some 150 years ago. Miraculously, the icon survived a fire that destroyed the original cathedral in 1966. Over the years, many healings and miracles have been credited through the intercession of the Holy Virgin in response to prayers offered by countless faithful before the icon. We will have the opportunity to venerate and pray before this Holy Icon when it is at Holy Transfiguration in New Haven on the evening of Wednesday Oct. 19th. On August 6th, the feast of the Transfiguration  of our Lord and Savior, we will be traveling to the pilgrimage at the monastery of New Skete in Cambridge, NY. The theme of the pilgrimage is “Monastic life, Transfiguration, and the Spirit of Happiness.” There will be two presentations and tours of the monastery. Every month All Saints of America collects food for the local food pantry called the Owls Kitchen. Each month they identify a certain food or item that they especially need. . If you would like to contribute, we collect the food every Sunday at Liturgy.

The Woodstock artist Association,Inc will hold a exhibit entitled Female Saints Within Iconography. The exhibit runs from June 12 to July 4, 2004, and features the Icons of Mary Anne O'Malley. More information is avaiable at www.WoodstockArt.org.

On Wednesday, March 17,2004, Fr. John Pawelchak will give a talk and meditation on the Orthodox perspective of the lenten discipline of almsgiving. The talk begins at 11:50 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Salisbury, CT. 

On Wednesday April 6th, the Parishioners from the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Waterbury, will be joining us in the Celebration of the Liturgy of Pre-Santified Gifts

REMINDER: Beginning Sunday, September 7th, services will begin at 10 AM.

On Saturday, July 19th at 4 PM we will have the prayers for a new mother, Julia Radley.  Immediately following, we will have the baptism of newborn child of God, George Radley.  Following, we will have a small get-together to both welcome Julian back and George to the church.
On Sunday, during the liturgy, we will church the newly baptized George, at which time he will receive his first communion.  After liturgy, there will be a pot luck celebration for the newly Baptized and Churched, Child of God, George, and his family.
 

Since Sunday, July 20, 2014 is the Feast of the Prophet, Elijah, at the concluding prayers at Liturgy, Father John will bless everyone's vehicles.
